BREAKING: Everything Went Wrong for Trump Today
Good evening, this is Really American. It is Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Trump just had a terrible day.
Trump’s own party turned on him behind closed doors, with a sitting senator getting in his face over a war Trump still will not explain. A CNN anchor used Trump’s own words from a month ago to dismantle his cover story on live television. A federal judge who already caught Trump breaking the law is now demanding answers about why his administration is still stalling. Meanwhile, Mike Johnson tried to defend an attack on the Constitution that the U.S. World Cup team just made look absurd, scoring wins thanks to the exact rule Trump wants gone. Let’s get into it.
Before we continue, we need to talk about who is buying up the news you read. Fox just struck a $22 billion deal for Roku. The Ellison family got the green light from Trump’s DOJ to install Bari Weiss over both CBS News and CNN. Bezos still owns the Post. Murdoch now controls Fox and Roku. That is not a coincidence, it is a strategy, and it is moving fast. Really American is reader-funded and answers to nobody on a board. If you are reading this on a free subscription, this is the moment to upgrade. Not next week. Tonight. Subscribe or upgrade right now.
REPUBLICAN SENATOR REFUSES TO BACK DOWN FROM TRUMP
Bill Cassidy stood his ground against Donald Trump to his face on Wednesday, and would not sit down when Trump told him to.
The Louisiana senator confronted Trump during a closed-door Senate Republican lunch over the war powers resolution that passed the Senate 50 to 48 a day earlier, ordering Trump to pull U.S. forces out of the Iran conflict. Trump told Cassidy to sit down. Cassidy refused.
“You have not told the American people what’s going on,” Cassidy told Trump, according to The Hill. “It was supposed to last four weeks. It’s lasted four months.”
Trump lashed out and called Cassidy a “lunatic” after Cassidy refused to back off. Cassidy had called Trump “brother.” Trump snapped back that he was not his brother. The two matched each other’s volume until the room settled, but Cassidy did not apologize and did not retreat. Trump also turned on Senators Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Rand Paul for the same vote.
This is a war that 76 percent of Americans say is not worth what it has cost, according to a recent Reuters poll. When members of Trump’s own party are shouting at him in private over a war he will not explain, that is not a leadership problem. That is a four month old lie starting to collapse in public.
TRUMP’S OWN WORDS BLOW UP HIS VANDAL STORY
Meanwhile, Trump told the country that vandals took a knife to his $16 million Reflecting Pool renovation. Kaitlan Collins was not buying it.
The CNN anchor played Trump’s own words back to him on air. In May, Trump bragged that his new pool lining was so strong “you couldn’t, if you had a knife, you can’t even cut it.” This week, he claimed vandals cut the same supposedly knife-proof lining into hundreds of strips.
Trump has not released a single photo or video proving any vandalism happened. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed six arrests were made and blamed unnamed “deranged individuals” who are “longtime donors” to Democrats. No names. No evidence. The pool itself turned green with algae days after the so-called sabotage, and National Guard troops are now stationed around it.
This was $16 million in taxpayer money, funneled through no-bid contracts to Trump-connected companies, and the administration’s only defense is a knife story Trump’s own past comments disprove. That is your money paying for a paint job and a cover story.
JUDGE RUNS OUT OF PATIENCE WITH KENNEDY CENTER TARP
Meanwhile, a federal judge already ruled that Trump illegally put his name on the Kennedy Center. Now he wants to know why Trump’s team is hiding behind a tarp instead of just taking it down.
U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ordered the Kennedy Center to file a status report by the end of July explaining the purpose of the scaffolding and tarp that have covered the building’s front portico since June 13, according to Deadline.
Lawyers for Rep. Joyce Beatty called it a “petty act of defiance.” Workers removed Trump’s name as ordered, then immediately wrapped the entire sign in tarp and scaffolding rather than leave the original Kennedy name visible. The Kennedy Center, now stacked with Trump loyalists on its board, did not respond to a request for comment.
A judge already told Trump he broke the law here. Now he is on the clock to explain why his administration is still acting like the ruling never happened.
MIKE JOHNSON CAN’T ESCAPE HIS OWN WORLD CUP PROBLEM, OR HIS RACISM PROBLEM
Meanwhile, a reporter asked Mike Johnson a simple question on Wednesday: how does the administration celebrate the U.S. Men’s National Team while trying to kill the citizenship rule that helped build it. Johnson did not have a good answer.
Top USMNT scorer Folarin Balogun, born in New York to Nigerian parents passing through the city, is a citizen because of birthright citizenship, the same constitutional right Trump is trying to erase by executive order. The Guardian reported that birthright citizenship factored into the path of at least three players on the current roster.
Johnson claimed birthright citizenship has been “abused” by people who “come over the border just to have a baby.” He offered no evidence for that claim. He then pivoted to his grandfather’s boat trip from Sicily, called America “the most benevolent nation in the history of the world,” and insisted there was nothing inconsistent about cheering the team while attacking the rule that produced it.
The Supreme Court could rule on Trump’s birthright citizenship order any day. The same Constitution Johnson wants to reinterpret already built a World Cup team good enough to go 2-0. He cannot have it both ways and reporters are starting to notice.
THE PRESS IS UNDER ATTACK AND THE CLOCK IS RUNNING OUT
Tonight alone we covered a sitting senator who would not back down, a live TV fact-check that gutted Trump’s own cover story, a federal judge running out of patience, and a House Speaker who cannot keep his own logic straight. Stories like these are exactly what billionaires like Murdoch, Bezos, and the Ellisons do not want you reading, and they are buying up every outlet they can to make sure of it. Every week another newsroom gets swallowed by someone with a stake in protecting Trump. Really American does not answer to any of them, but we can only stay independent if readers fund it instead. If just 2 percent of our free subscribers upgraded today, we could bring on another reporter and cover twice as many stories like these before the next outlet goes the same way. This is not a someday decision. Subscribe or upgrade right now.

BONUS: OBAMA SAYS HE LIVES RENT FREE IN TRUMP’S HEAD
Meanwhile, Barack Obama was asked on the All the Smoke podcast Wednesday how he stays so calm while Trump keeps bringing him up nearly a decade after leaving office.
“I obviously have a room in his head. A suite in his head,” Obama said. He added that obsessing over a predecessor “is a strange thing to me” and shows someone not focused on the job he was elected to do.
Trump has called Obama a “traitor” over Iran, mocked his presidential library with AI images, and posted a video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes. Ten years out of office and he is still living in Trump’s head for free.

So sick of this daily shit show!! But thanks for your work and this update! I learned a few new details!!
