Over at the Justice Department, Epstein’s survivors are watching Trump hand the entire operation to his personal defense lawyer, and they are warning the files are about to vanish for good. And off the coast of South America, the Pentagon just quietly conceded that a bombing campaign that killed 221 people barely dented the flow of cocaine. Trump says he stopped the drugs by 98 percent. His own DEA says he stopped almost nothing. Three stories today, and not one of them is going the way Trump wants.

REPUBLICANS ARE DONE DEFENDING PETE HEGSETH
Republican senators are now saying out loud what Democrats warned about a year ago. They have lost confidence in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis did not hold back. “I don’t have any confidence in him anymore,” Tillis said, accusing Hegseth of forcing out some of the most distinguished commanders in the entire Department of Defense. He described “Game of Thrones stuff” inside the Pentagon and said Hegseth wants to run the whole place himself.
Maine Sen. Susan Collins called the firing of Gen. Christopher Donahue, the top Army commander for Europe and Africa, “deeply troubling.” This is all happening while the Iran war Hegseth is running has already cost $37.5 billion, roughly what the federal government spends on the entire Coast Guard for two years.
The Hill first reported the collapse in Republican support. It matters because Hegseth needs Tillis and Collins to pass his emergency war budget, and with Mitch McConnell out sick, that math is falling apart fast.
The war is being paid for out of your taxes, and the man running it just lost his own party. When the people who confirmed him stop trusting him, that should tell you something.
EPSTEIN SURVIVORS BEG SENATORS TO BLOCK BLANCHE
Jeffrey Epstein’s survivors are pleading with Republican senators to reject Todd Blanche as attorney general. Blanche is Trump’s former defense lawyer, and he is close to confirmation.
In a letter to Sens. Thom Tillis and John Cornyn, the survivors laid out how Blanche handled the Epstein files as acting attorney general. He released the victims’ names, photos, and identifying details, then left out the names of the men accused of abusing and enabling Epstein. More than 1,000 girls and women were abused. Not one person other than Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell has ever been charged.
The survivors also said Blanche met with them recently and gave them an hour of deflection and gaslighting. Last summer he met Maxwell in prison. Soon after, she was moved to a lower-security facility.
The Guardian reported that legal experts expect a Blanche-run Justice Department to bury the case for good. Remember, Trump campaigned on releasing every Epstein file. Then he fired Attorney General Pam Bondi because she would not make the story disappear.
Trump promised transparency and delivered a cover-up. The men who enabled Epstein stay free, and the victims get their names dragged into public while the powerful walk.
TRUMP’S BOAT STRIKES: 221 DEAD, COCAINE UNCHANGED
Trump keeps bragging that his military boat strikes ended drug smuggling by sea. His own government just proved that is a lie.
His own DEA found the strikes did nothing to the supply or the price of cocaine. Since last September, U.S. forces have blown up at least 67 boats and killed at least 221 people. Legal analysts call those strikes executions without trials. And the drugs never stopped. Traffickers simply switched to bigger boats, aircraft, and routes that hug the coastline.
Trump has claimed at least 15 times that the strikes cut ocean drug trafficking by 97 or 98 percent. “98.2% of Drugs coming into the U.S. by Ocean or Sea have STOPPED!” he posted on Truth Social in April. In Florida, cocaine now sells for $13,000 to $15,000 a kilo, a drop of about 50 percent in five years. Falling prices mean more supply, not less.
The Washington Post obtained the DEA assessment along with a closed-door briefing where Pentagon officials admitted the seized cocaine is still coming in at high purity. A Florida sheriff who backs the strikes said the drugs keep washing up on beaches behind people’s houses every week.
221 people are dead, the cocaine is cheaper than ever, and Trump is on Truth Social claiming a 98 percent victory. That gap between the body count and the bragging is the whole story.
