Record heat and lightning storms forced a full evacuation of the National Mall, and when Trump finally took the stage after 11pm, the cameras caught rows of empty seats at the celebration he spent months hyping. Then Trump fell asleep in front of his own fireworks show, on camera, while his granddaughter looked on. As the celebration collapsed, one of Trump’s most loyal activists decided the record heat was a secret weather weapon deployed by people who hate him. And the speech itself was no better, because Trump used America’s 250th birthday to compare his political opponents to cancer and demand a voting law he says will keep Republicans in power for a century.

TRUMP HUMILIATED BY EMPTY SEATS AT AMERICA’S 250TH BIRTHDAY

Trump spent weeks hyping his July 4th “rally” on the National Mall as the biggest celebration in American history. What America got instead was a heat emergency, a mass evacuation, and a president speaking to visible gaps in the crowd at 11pm.

Washington baked in record 103 degree heat on Saturday, and organizers evacuated the entire venue shortly after 7pm as severe storms and lightning closed in. Trump refused to call it off. “We will wait it out, I don’t care if it’s 2:00 O’Clock in the morning,” he posted on Truth Social, insisting the storms would “bring good luck” and adding, “It’s Saturday night, LETS HAVE SOME FUN, even if we are out late tonight.”

His crowd did not share the enthusiasm. Re-screening dragged on for hours and left thousands stuck outside in the rain. Per The Daily Beast, videos from the start of the speech showed large gaps in the crowd, suggesting many people simply never came back. Trump opened by claiming 375,000 people had been there before the evacuation and that 150,000 returned to hear him. There is no evidence the crowd was anywhere near that size. The cameras showed empty seats.

“If you think that was easy, it wasn’t,” Trump admitted as he opened the speech. Trump promised the greatest celebration in American history and delivered a late-night mess to a half-empty Mall. Remember that the next time he brags about a crowd.

TRUMP FALLS ASLEEP AT HIS OWN FIREWORKS SHOW

Trump bragged for weeks that he was putting on the largest fireworks show in history, a staggering 850,000 fireworks over the National Mall. Then he slept through it.

Video shared across X shows the 80-year-old president with his eyes closed for at least 11 seconds as a singer performed Don’t Stop Believin’ and fireworks exploded in front of him. His own granddaughter, Kai Trump, glanced over at him during the clip. Other footage caught Trump scrolling on his phone in the middle of the show.

The internet noticed immediately. “Way past grandpa’s bedtime,” one X user wrote. Another called the moment “incredibly embarrassing and concerning.” A third joked, “At this point it would be easier to point out where didn’t he fall asleep.” The Mirror reported that multiple photos captured Trump with his eyes shut while the fireworks reflected in the glass in front of him.

When it was over, Trump posted “Best fireworks show, EVER!” on Truth Social. He apparently missed a good chunk of it. Internal National Park Service documents reportedly warned nearby residents to limit their exposure to the fireworks pollution and even suggested wearing N95 masks.

MAGA ACTIVIST CLAIMS TRUMP HATERS “GEOENGINEERED” THE HEAT WAVE

Kylie Jane Kremer, the right-wing activist who organized Trump’s rallies before January 6, has an explanation for the record heat that wrecked the celebration. Somebody manufactured it.

“Someone with an extreme case of TDS geoengineered this weather in DC,” Kremer posted on X, referring to “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” the fake illness Trump invented to dismiss his critics. “Same way they geoengineered Trump’s inauguration to be one of the coldest in U.S. history. People with TDS hate Trump more than they love America.” She later added, “TDS is REAL and destroying America!”

Per The Independent, meteorologists attribute the heat to a heat dome, a well-understood area of high pressure, and NOAA has said over and over that the government does not control the weather. The heat was very real. Temperatures hit 103 degrees, the Independence Day parade was canceled outright, Trump’s Great American State Fair shut down for hours at a time, and ping-pong-ball-sized hail hammered his Mount Rushmore event the day before.

And this thinking is not fringe anymore. Republican lawmakers in nearly 20 state legislatures have introduced bills to ban “weather modification.”

Climate change is making American summers deadlier every single year. The people running the country would rather blame imaginary weather machines than say that sentence out loud.

TRUMP TURNS AMERICA’S BIRTHDAY INTO A PARTISAN RALLY

The speech itself was not a celebration of America. It was a Trump campaign rally with fireworks attached, and he used the country’s 250th birthday to compare his political opponents to a disease.

Trump spent much of the address railing against communism, a veiled attack on Democratic House candidates in New York and Colorado. “We like to stop a threat like that immediately, and before it begins,” Trump said. “It’s like a cancer, you got to cut it out, you got to cut it out fast.” He also pushed his SAVE Act voting restrictions, and according to The Independent, claimed the bill would keep Republicans in power for the next century if it becomes law. Think about what he is telling you there. The point of the law is not fair elections. The point is permanent Republican rule.

Trump also mangled the founding document he was there to honor. He claimed the Declaration of Independence says Americans are “made in the image of one almighty God, and a communist will never say that.” The Declaration says no such thing. It says all men are created equal. He complained that he “wasn’t treated that well” by the justice system, and teased staying in office past his constitutional limit: “I should say third term, but I won’t do that, because I don’t want any controversy.”

Even the scripted parts fell apart. Trump stumbled through his own voter ID pitch: “All voters must show voter ID. All motorsssss must. All voters.”

Every president before him treated July 4th as a day for the whole country. Trump used the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence to attack his opponents, rewrite the document itself, and pitch a law designed to lock his party into power. That is not patriotism. That is what he thinks America is for.
