BREAKING: All Hell Breaks Loose for Trump This Morning
Good morning, this is Really American. It is Friday, June 19, 2026. All hell broke loose this morning.
Trump told Italian TV that Giorgia Meloni begged him for a photo at the G7. She did not take it well. Meanwhile the “peace deal” Trump signed twice this week is already collapsing, Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz again, and Lebanon spent the night under Israeli bombs. The bill for his war just landed too: $132 billion and counting. And inside his own party, Republican senators are done staying quiet, prompting Trump to remind everyone “I’m the president and you’re not.” Four stories. One man losing the room.
Before we get into it, we need to talk about why you’re getting this from us and not from a cable network owned by a billionaire. Murdoch runs Fox. Bezos owns the Post. The Ellison family just got the green light to put Bari Weiss in charge of both CBS News and CNN. Really American answers to readers, not to a media mogul with a seat at Mar-a-Lago. We can only keep doing that if readers who are still on the free list decide today is the day they upgrade. Not next week. Today. TRUMP TRASHES MELONI, ITALY HITS BACK HARD
Trump told an Italian TV channel that Giorgia Meloni begged him for a photo at the G7 summit this week. He did not stop there.
“She begged me to take a picture with her. She wanted a picture with me so badly. I wouldn’t have taken it, but I felt sorry for her,” Trump said, according to the La7 translation.
Meloni was once one of Trump’s closest allies in Europe. She came back swinging anyway. “Neither I nor Italy ever beg,” she said, calling his story “completely made up” and adding that he treats the enemies of the West with more patience than he shows his own allies.
Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, was set to fly to Washington next week. He just canceled the trip, calling Trump’s comments “serious and offensive” to the entire country. One of Meloni’s own allies went further, saying Trump is wrecking the historic relationship between the US and Europe, whether on purpose or out of pure incompetence.
This is what happens when a president needs to be the center of every story, even a hand-picked ally’s. He humiliated a friend on camera and lost an ally over it. That is not strength. That is a man who cannot stop himself.
THE “PEACE DEAL” IS FALLING APART IN REAL TIME
Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz again on Friday. Just days after Trump signed his Iran “peace deal” not once but twice.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says the US violated the agreement by keeping forces in the region and letting Israel keep attacking Lebanon. Israeli strikes overnight killed at least 18 people in Lebanon and wounded 33 more, the worst violence since the deal was signed. Talks scheduled in Switzerland between the US and Iran got scrapped at the last minute.
Trump’s response was to post that Iran is “FINISHED” and will get “no money, not ten cents.” Iran’s supreme leader said Trump signed the deal out of desperation, not strength. Israel and Hezbollah scrambled into a new ceasefire late Friday afternoon just to keep the whole thing from blowing up completely.
This is the deal Trump bragged about signing at the Palace of Versailles like he’d ended a world war. Four days later it is already on fire, and the people paying for it are the families in Lebanon under the bombs and the soldiers from a region Trump insists is “finished.”
THE BILL FOR TRUMP’S WAR: $132 BILLION AND COUNTING
While Trump takes his victory lap, the New York Times put a number on what his war actually cost. $132 billion, according to Moody’s Analytics. That is enough to fund the entire EPA for more than 20 years.
More than 3,000 Iranians are dead. Thirteen US troops are dead. Nearly 3,700 people are dead in Lebanon. A single US missile strike leveled an Iranian school and killed at least 175 people on day one alone.
American families are footing part of the bill too. Gas prices jumped from $2.98 a gallon before the war to roughly $4 a gallon now, an extra $460 per household just to fill up, according to a Brown University tracker. Food prices are climbing worldwide because the war disrupted fertilizer supply chains running through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump calls this a win. Tell that to the family paying $460 more a year at the pump for a war he started and a peace deal that is already collapsing.
TRUMP THROWS TANTRUM TO HIS OWN PARTY: “I’M THE PRESIDENT AND YOU’RE NOT”
Republicans are done biting their tongues. The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump has been brushing off every warning from his own party with the same line: “I’m the president and you’re not.”
Senator Bill Cassidy called the Iran deal “the worst foreign policy blunder in decades.” Senate Armed Services Chairman Roger Wicker, who almost never criticizes Trump publicly, said the deal “negotiates away the victories” of the war Trump just spent four months fighting.
It is not just Iran. Trump blew up his own party’s plan to confirm a new intelligence director, installed Bill Pulte as acting chief instead, and is now refusing to sign a critical spy law renewal until Congress passes a voter-ID bill that does not have the votes. “The total control that Trump once had over Congress just isn’t there anymore,” said Ron Bonjean, a former House and Senate GOP leadership spokesman.
Seventeen months into his second term, the man who demanded total loyalty cannot get his own party to fall in line anymore. Midterms are five months away, and Republicans are starting to do the math themselves.
SUPPORT THE JOURNALISM THAT’S CALLING THIS WHAT IT IS
If today’s newsletter showed you anything, it’s a president who insulted an ally over a photo, signed a peace deal that fell apart within days, racked up a $132 billion bill for a war that didn’t need to happen, and is now losing his own party’s patience. Really American is reporting these stories without a billionaire’s thumb on the scale, and we can only keep it that way with reader support. what a narcissist child that man is. I hope there is someone in the government, preferably a Democrat, who is staying in touch with our allies in Europe to let them know that we are not all losers like Trump. We are going to need someone strong to lead us after this administration is hung out to dry and no longer running the country. I hope our allies understand that most of us do not feel the way Trump does.
I just received an email from my useless rethug senator in Wisconsin who said the greatest scandal of this history of the US is the covid vaccine which wasn't necessary and was pushed on people. This is the second email he's sent out this week about this bs. I wrote him back and said, "The greatest scandal is you and your ilk not standing up to this traitorous felon pedophile grifter in the White House. What does he have on you?" This rethug was in Moscow on July 4 in 2018 btw.
