BREAKING: The chaos inside Trump's White House just got exposed
Good morning, this is Really American. It is Tuesday, June 2nd. The White House is in more chaos than we realized.
The White House is in chaos and Trump’s own allies are saying so on the record. Politico reports that Trump insiders describe an administration consumed by Iran, stuck in “quicksand,” and in a “funk” with no clear path forward — with Steve Bannon asking publicly “Is this how MAGA ends?” Trump is furious about his America 250 concert disaster and wants people fired — the last confirmed remaining act is Vanilla Ice. Trump just named a new acting Director of National Intelligence — the official who dug up mortgage fraud allegations against the Fed governor, the New York attorney general, Adam Schiff, and Eric Swalwell. And Scott Pelley told the new 60 Minutes executive producer to his face Monday that the show is being “murdered” by Bari Weiss — while Dan Rather, Glenn Close, and dozens of former CBS News staffers signed an open letter demanding David Ellison defend press freedom.
Before we continue — Dan Rather and current CBS staffers just signed an open letter begging David Ellison not to destroy 60 Minutes. Bari Weiss already fired the executive producer, pushed out Sharyn Alfonsi, and cancelled Colbert. This is what happens when billionaires control the news. The best thing you can do right now to fight back is support independent journalism that cannot be bought or cancelled. TRUMP’S OWN ALLIES SAY THE WHITE HOUSE IS IN A “FUNK.” POLITICO REPORTS THE ADMINISTRATION IS STUCK IN IRAN QUICKSAND.
A stunning Politico report published Tuesday morning — based on interviews with Trump allies and people close to the White House granted anonymity to speak candidly — describes an administration that is burned out, stuck, and increasingly unable to sell its own record as it approaches the halfway point of Trump’s second term.
“The administration is all-consumed by this conflict. They’re pretty much in a funk with it — or fatigue — in that there’s nothing happening,” said one person close to the White House. “Even if there are wins, no one’s communicating them. There’s just no other play outside of — we are stuck in this quicksand of Iran.”
The picture that emerges is of a White House that started Trump’s second term with momentum — what Bannon called the “days of thunder” — and has ground to a near-halt. The Iran war has now lasted twice as long as Trump suggested it might. Trump left a Friday Situation Room meeting without making a decision on the ceasefire. The $1.8 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund was abandoned Monday after courts blocked it and his own party revolted. The Senate is no closer to passing his top legislative priorities. Court rulings have stopped the administration on the Kennedy Center, the transgender military ban, the IRS settlement, and the slush fund. His America 250 concert collapsed. Gas is still at $4.32 a gallon — down slightly from $4.52 last week but still up 37 percent from a year ago.
Even Steve Bannon — Trump’s former chief strategist and one of his most fervent supporters — publicly asked: “Is this how MAGA ends — with a whimper not a bang?”
The White House pushed back, insisting Trump can “walk and chew gum at the same time” and pointing to generic drugs, Trump accounts for children, and rollbacks of Biden EPA rules as wins. But Trump allies were blunt about the political stakes. One person close to the White House warned of a “rude awakening” if Democrats take the House in November — “the proctological exam kind of way” — and predicted that members of Congress who have never been in the minority “don’t know how shitty it is.”
Trump’s second term is nearly half over. The Iran war has no end in sight. The concert collapsed. The fund is dead. The courts keep saying no. His own allies are telling Politico the White House is in a funk. Steve Bannon is asking if MAGA is ending with a whimper.
TRUMP IS FURIOUS ABOUT HIS CONCERT DISASTER AND WANTS PEOPLE FIRED. THE LAST CONFIRMED ACT IS VANILLA ICE.
President Trump is “irate” about the collapse of his Freedom 250 concert series and is demanding firings, according to a White House source who told the Daily Mail that the situation has become a source of deep embarrassment inside the administration.
“Allowing Z-list celebrities to embarrass the president like this, in a world where actual celebrities like Jason Aldean and Nicki Minaj actually support him, isn’t just embarrassing, it’s grossly negligent, and firings are coming,” the insider said. “It’s a circular firing squad over there. Some artists hadn’t even been contractually locked down before the announcements were made.”
The last of the original announced acts to confirm their exit was Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli — who told CNN Monday: “Throughout the week, it turned into a circus. And this is not what I signed for. I’m not into politics. So you hear it first here. I’m not attending.”
The full list of acts who have now dropped out includes the Commodores, Morris Day and the Time, Young MC, Martina McBride, Bret Michaels of Poison, Milli Vanilli, and C+C Music Factory. Flo Rida has not publicly confirmed his status. Vanilla Ice remains. He told TMZ he doesn’t vote and would “play for Putin” if asked.
Conservative commentator Matt Walsh — hardly a Trump critic — published a scathing post over the weekend: “I’m actually pretty pissed at how badly they’ve bungled America 250. First they tried to invite Milli Vanilli and a bunch of other absurdly washed-up, geriatric one-hit wonders. Then when that didn’t work they decided to convert the event into a Trump rally where Trump will talk about himself for 90 minutes. This should have been a massive, raucous celebration of the country and its 250 year history. Now it will be a political rally identical to the ten million other ones we’ve already seen.”
Trump wants people fired. The circular firing squad has begun. Vanilla Ice remains. The show opens June 25th.
TRUMP JUST NAMED A NEW ACTING DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE. IT IS THE MAN WHO PUSHED FRAUD ALLEGATIONS AGAINST TRUMP’S POLITICAL ENEMIES.
President Trump announced Tuesday morning that he is appointing William Pulte — the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — as the new acting Director of National Intelligence, replacing Tulsi Gabbard who resigned last month to care for her husband following a cancer diagnosis.
Pulte is not a national security official. He is a housing finance regulator. He has no intelligence background. What he does have is a track record of using his government position to pursue Trump’s political enemies.
Pulte is the official who dug up mortgage fraud allegations against Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook — a Trump critic — and pushed for her indictment. He pushed similar allegations against New York Attorney General Letitia James, Senator Adam Schiff, and former Representative Eric Swalwell. He was also the subject of a Politico report last year naming him as the official who pitched Trump on 50-year mortgages — a proposal that was widely ridiculed and earned him scorn inside the West Wing.
Trump is now placing this man — whose primary demonstrated skill is weaponizing financial allegations against political opponents — in charge of the United States intelligence community. He will simultaneously remain director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The Director of National Intelligence oversees all 18 US intelligence agencies. The person Trump just named to the job pushed fraud allegations against the Fed governor, the New York attorney general, Adam Schiff, and Eric Swalwell. He also pitched 50-year mortgages. He will run both jobs at once.
SCOTT PELLEY TOLD THE NEW 60 MINUTES BOSS TO HIS FACE THAT THE SHOW IS BEING “MURDERED.” DAN RATHER SIGNED THE LETTER.
The revolt inside CBS News escalated dramatically Monday when legendary 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley confronted the show’s newly installed executive producer Nick Bilton — a tech columnist with no broadcast experience — at his first staff meeting and told him directly that the show was being “murdered” by Bari Weiss, that Weiss’s overhaul of CBS Evening News had been “catastrophic,” and that neither Bilton nor Weiss was qualified for their roles.
The confrontation occurred during Bilton’s first meeting with the 60 Minutes team in New York City. Bilton had tried to reach Pelley directly before the meeting — his outreach went unanswered. Former executive producer Bill Owens, who resigned last year citing concerns about journalistic independence, said at a press event Monday that his former colleagues “were fired by people who don’t even know what we do.”
The same day, an open letter signed by Dan Rather, Glenn Close, Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, longtime 60 Minutes contributor Lowell Bergman, and dozens of current and former CBS News staffers was sent to Paramount CEO David Ellison demanding he “uphold editorial independence” at the show. “What is at stake is not just the future of the most important and enduring television journalism program in this country,” the letter read, “but the future of free and independent press in America.”
The letter came after Weiss fired executive producer Tanya Simon, let Sharyn Alfonsi’s contract expire, pushed out Cecilia Vega, watched Anderson Cooper walk out, and cancelled Colbert. Bilton told reporters last week he plans to expand 60 Minutes to more days and more platforms. “Trump’s DNA is all over this,” former 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft told a media reporter. Scott Pelley told the new boss the show is being murdered. Dan Rather signed the letter. David Ellison has not responded.
HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP TODAY
Trump’s own allies say the White House is in a funk. He wants people fired over his concert disaster. He just put a housing regulator in charge of US intelligence. Scott Pelley told the new 60 Minutes boss the show is being murdered. Dan Rather signed the letter. The billionaire takeover of American journalism is happening in real time and Really American will not look away.
We created Really American as a direct response to the billionaire conquest of the media. Murdoch owns Fox. Ellison owns CBS. Bezos owns the Post. Colbert got cancelled. The reporters who told the truth got pushed out. Every paid subscriber to Really American is a direct rebuke of everything David Ellison and Bari Weiss are doing to American journalism. Every subscription proves that independent media is growing and will not be silenced. I think the 'days of thunder' was just Trump breaking wind. In fact in colloquial English, that is precisely what 'trump' means.
Pulte was picked by Trumpy because he expects him in a cage match with Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent at the White House. See: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/09/08/scott-bessent-bill-pulte-blowup-00549956
But all of you working in the intell community might now get offered one of those spiffy 50-year mortgages that Pulte tried selling the White House: https://www.politico.com/news/2025/11/10/trumps-50-year-mortgage-plan-is-getting-panned-allies-blame-this-man-00645654
